Jacob Zuma is the new President of the ANC. Zuma secured 2 329 votes against 1 505 votes of Mbeki This puts him firmly in line for the presidency of South Africa in 2009. Zuma’s victory is a massive blow to Mbeki. The position of deputy president went to current secretary-general Kgalema Motlanthe, who received 2346 votes against the 1445 votes gained by his opponent Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma.
